About Chris Evert
Born December 21, 1954, Chris Evert is a true tennis legend. According to the Women’s Tennis Association, Evert was the year-ending world number 1 singles player in 1975, 1976, 1977, 1980, and 1981. Additionally, she has 18 Grand Slam singles championships, including records for the championships at both the French Open and the U.S. Open. In addition to her 157 singles championships and her record setting career win-loss record in singles matches, Chris Evert was also an accomplished doubles player. She won three Grand Slam titles and 29 regular tour championships in doubles. The fierce rivalry between Evert and Martina Navratilova was one of the greatest of all time. In 1995, Evert was unanimously elected to the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
