Bert Blyleven
About Bert Blyleven
Bert Blyleven is a former MLB pitcher who played for various teams between 1970 and 1992, including the Minnesota Twins, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Cleveland Indians. Known for his sharp curveball, Blyleven was so talented that he was drafted straight out of high school by the Twins. In his first major league season, he was named the 1970 American League Rookie Pitcher of the Year by The Sporting News. In 1977, he pitched a no-hitter. In 1986, he pitched his 3,000th strikeout, a feat rarely achieved by even the best of MLB pitchers. Blyleven retired in 1993 as a 2-time All-Star Game Selection who had helped both the Twins and the Pirates win the World Series. One of the best MLB pitchers ever, Bert Blyleven is a true baseball legend.
