Aaron Rodgers

About Aaron Rodgers

Since being drafted into the NFL by the Green Bay Packers in 2005, Aaron Rodgers has established a solid reputation for being one of the best quarterbacks in the league. By 2009, he had achieved over 8,800 passing yards and been named a Pro Bowl selection. These types of achievements perhaps came as no big surprise to those who were familiar with Rodgers’ college career, during which he won a number of awards. In 2003, he was named the starting quarterback for the California Golden Bears of UC Berkeley. By the end of the 2004, he had been named the Insight Bowl Offensive MVP, the Cal Co-Offensive MVP, and a First-Team All-Pac-10 selection. He also tied a school record by achieving 5 300-yard games and set a new school record by achieving a pass interception percentage of only 1.43%.

Although he joined the Packers in 2005, it was not until 2008 that he really got his first chance to shine. Before then, he was mostly sidelined as a backup to star quarterback Brett Favre, who announced his retirement in March of 2008. In his debut game, Rodgers led the Packers to a 24-19 victory against the Minnesota Vikings. After his second game as a starting quarterback for the Packers, he was named the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Player of the Week. By the fourth week of his debut season, he had achieved the third longest streak of consecutive passes without an interception in franchise history with 157. In the 2009 season, Rodgers made history by becoming the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for 4,000 yards in two consecutive debut years as a starter. He also served as the NFC’s starting quarterback for the Pro Bowl. With so many impressive achievements in such little time, it is no wonder that Aaron Rodgers continues to be regarded as one the strongest forces in the NFL.
